THE NEWEST VOLCANIC ERUPTION: BARDARBUNGA - HOLUHRAUN

January 2016

Again there is unrest in the Bardarbunga Central Volcano system. The last eruption was from 31 August 2014 - 27 February 2015. The Cinema is the only place where a short film from this eruption is shown daily. Also our film maker, Valdimar Leifsson, is ready to go filming as soon as the next eruption starts - as he has done at every eruption in Iceland the last decades.
Our team also filmed Eric Cheng when he was on an expedition filming the eruption with the aid of a drone, which actually flew into the crater where the GoPro camera melted!  This shot can also be seen in our film ...

The film will also be shown at the visitors centers of the Vatnajökull National Park.

Reykjanes Peninsula

March 2013

Lifsmynd Film Production has just finished production of 3 episodes of a TV documentary on Reykjanes Peninsula. It deals with the nature of the area; volcanoes, geothermal areas, lava fields, vegetation and more. As well as the people who live on the peninsula, past and present, the fishing industry, art and culture and much more. Our aim is to make out of the 3 episodes a film that is suitable to show in the Cinema  and narration in English, to start with. At the moment we can´t say when it will bea ready - but as soon as possible.

Aurora borealis

March 2013

Northern Lights - people from all over the world flock to Iceland in the hope of seeing the Northern lights - Aurora Borealis - but, as with other phenomenon of nature the lights are not predictable for sure. And they are not at all easy to film ... But we are working on a film called Chasing the Northern Lights, following one of Iceland´s best known photographer, Ragnar Th. Sigurdsson, on his journeys filming the fikckly lights. And what are those lights? We will explain it in a very graphic way in the new film that will be shown at The Cinema ...

Vatnajökull National Park
March 2013

Vatnajökull glacier is the biggest glacier of Iceland, and also the biggest glacier of Europe. The glacier and its surroundings from the south shore of Iceland to the north shore have now been turned into a National Park; the biggest one in Europe.

Filming in this vast area, that also includes part of the highlands of Iceland, has been going on for the past 2 1/2 years and is still going on. The editing stage is starting and a four episode TV program will be produced, also short films for the visitors centers of the Vatnajökull National Park. Hopefully also an hour long film - which will be shown at The Cinema.
